What was your favorite meal when you were a kid and do you still eat it now?

Was there something you just loved as a kid that you've never stopped loving and try to still have now as an adult, even if only once in a while? My absolute favorite thing growing up was when Mom would make Chicken Potpie. Now, this wasn't a pie - there was no crust and no vegetables. This was a wonderful, full-flavored broth in which strips of rolled-out dough would be dropped and cooked. She'd make a HUGE pot of it (she used her canning pot) and it would last all week! There were only three of us. She'd serve the chicken on the side (we hardly ate it) along with applesauce and cranberry sauce. Sometimes there would be a vegetable from our garden as well, but mainly we were too busy eating potpie. Let me tell you, that is the most wonderful comfort food in the world. Down south, something very much like this is called Chicken and Dumplin's, but Mom didn't put leavening in her dough or eggs. Hers was just like pie crust dough. When I first moved away, I asked her for the recipe. When she told me to use SEVEN cups of flour, I knew I would have to make a few changes. No wonder we always had so many leftovers!! LOL But, in Amish country, this is a very popular dish. So, if you're ever in Lancaster County, PA, be sure that the potpie you order is the potpie you're expecting!!

Pig heaven! LOL I love it!!! And, when my mother worked at a bakery, it was much the same. Anything not sold got to come home with her and whoever else was on with her. Treats galore!!!

hmmm.. that's a good question. When I was a kid I loved fishsticks and french fries. These days I can't stand eating seafood.

LOL So you CAN get too much of a good thing, huh? My daughter, too, though. Her dad fished all the time and she just got sick of eating it. Now she avoids it, except for tuna, and that she puts mustard in (yuck!) ::eyeroll::

I was always a fan of pasta. But unfortunately I cannot have it now. Since becoming diabetic back in 1998, I have not been able to have pasta like I used to have. Now it is only on occasion.
