Help! I have emergency in IBT!

I am the one who was just came from China to Canada for study for a few days.
I have a huge issue that does not Tibet problem so much as TOFEL and want to find someone who can helps me.
lots of Chinese in China just speak Mandarin such as me. So, I have trouble in speaking & listening English. I wanna try to improve my English in a short time at my school where has students of full of Chinese,and they do not speak English at all. I am very bewildered I could take a good job in English. That`s impossible! Absolutely I can`t,now. I am determine to go to the university,UT. I must work hard and through the IBT-TOEFL, and need someone`s help . ...
So,please,please help me. Just a little suggestion that I will appreciate to you for your help!

Hi qiusha!
You are very lucky to have a chance to study aboard, congradulations.
I think it is easy for you to improve your listening and speaking when you have a language environment.Did you choose homestay or live in school? Homestay will give you more chance to practice your oral English and understand their culture. You can find a part-time job or take part in some volunteer activities, you can make more firends there.

thank you for your good advice! im live in a family that is made up by Chinese and they do not speak English. I think maybe i should make some friends out side ... ha...

it is better to be around people who also speak your language but when you are around english speaking people try to see and look around you to help in understanding what they are saying it will help if you can put pictures with the words you are hearing.for example if I have a cup of tea in my hand and my expression on my face is that i like the tea and you hear the word cup then you may be able to understand how to say it better.

I wished I could help out with your problem but unfortunately I unable to. I am an american trying to learn chinese but having so much trouble getting translation for most of the words on the correct way of saying them.I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out for you...Enjoy canada
