I got this yesterday: "Thank you for using Microsoft® Outlook® Express. Our information indicates that you use Outlook Express to access a Windows Live™ Hotmail® e-mail account via a protocol called DAV (Distributed Authoring and Versioning protocol). DAV, like POP3 or IMAP, is the way that a mail client communicates with a web-based mail server. As a valued customer, we want to provide advanced notice that as of June 30, 2008, Microsoft is disabling the DAV protocol and you will no longer be able to access your Hotmail Inbox via Outlook Express. As an alternative, we recommend that you download Windows Live Mail, a free desktop e-mail client that has the familiarity of Outlook Express and much more...." It isn't a hoax. If you use Outlook Express to get to your Hotmail, what are you going to switch to? Are you going ot use the Windows Live Desktop service? Try regular Outlook?

Thank you for posting this up here. My mother called earlier about it in a panic and wasn't sure what she was talking about. She's not that computer literate let alone Internet savvy. Now at least I know what she was talking about. I'm going to try and get her to switch to Gmail which works with outlook express and personally I think it works far better then hotmail. I have a hotmail account but I got it back when you needed it for messenger. I don't really use it anymore so I'm not worried.
