Are you happy that we have to play the Avs?

Since 2002 the rivalary has all but been dead. When we blew out Roy in his final game it marked the end of the era. No longer did the Avs stand as the Western Conference co dominaters. The next year we saw the rise of San Jose and Anaheim, Dallas was transitioning to Turco smoothly and Red Wings where business as usual. Avs had no goaltender and it showed. They no longer where on equal footing with the wings like they where in the late 90's. That gave the rivalary its strength, not just the hatred, but also the skill. If you look at the past calender year Colorado has not beat Detroit once. 8 games of domination. Some where close but many could have easily been as much of a blow out as tonights 8-2. I and several others that I have had this discussion with feel Chicago will be the next big rival. They look really good in the comeing years. Nashville has to beat us first. This is also pending the expansion of 2010-2012. With Las Vegas and one other city getting teams we may see Detroit and Colombus moving to the East. This would allow for some of the old rivalaries between us and Toronto to be renewed.
