LASIK: Good or bad? |
| |
| LASIK and laser eye surgery has been around for quite sometime now. I was really surprised about this article http://www.foxnews.com/st... The FDA is investigating LASIK because people are unsatisfied with the results. Some have diminished night vision, dry eye or their vision was worse after the procedure. I believe all these are known risks. Have you had LASIK? Did you suffer any of the side effects? | | Eye | | | | |

| | I actually just heard something about this on the TV. The report said that if you have dry eye, you should not have the procedure until the dry eye is fixed. Now it sounds like you would know if you had dry eye or not, but I guess it sometimes is not noticeable. So the jist of the story was, if you want Lasik done to be tested for dry eye first, and treat it if you have it. I am not sure why it would increase complications but it seems that it does. | | | | | | |

| | I can see that dry eye would cause complications. I bet for the eye to heal properly it needs to stay moist. | | | |

| | I just heard about this last night...For a long time I was thinking wow, if I had the money I would love to get Lasik as I am near sighted and have astigmatism...it would be so great to see without glasses, but then when I heard of how some people are having really bad effects of it thought...okay nix that idea...the one woman interviewed on the news show I saw said she is virtually housebound now..her vision is all out of wack, doubled, she can't drive, she can't read, nothing--so like why take the chance? I wouldn't now even if I had the money | | | | | | |

| | I just had the procedure this past December. My procedure was a little more complicated and they warned me that it would take a longer time for me to heal. They did warn me before I even signed up to have the surgery about all the side effects that COULD happen that they mentioned on Fox news the other night. My procedure went fine, the actual procedure took about 10 minutes! It took me quite some time to see clearly enough to drive. I had a procedure called PRK & that was said to take awhile to heal. I had to have someone drive me around for about a month! But after that it cleared up and now it is just so awesome to get up in the morning and put my make up on looking in the mirror on the wall instead of a mirror close to my face. To not have to wear glasses or contacts to drive or read, etc. I am blessed that I had it done!! I had my procedure done at LasikPlus and everyone there was really friendly and proffesional. If you have the regular lasik procedure, a lot of people walk out seeing just fine, so don't let my experience of waiting a long time to drive, put you off from doing it! | | | | | | |

| | Hi. My husband has Lasik surgery to both eyes about a year ago. While wearing glasses, his right eye wasn't toobad, but his left eye was quite bad and never coould get fitted with the right lenses so that he could see properly out of that eye. With his left eye, things seemed to be over-lapping. When he walked out of the lasik office (TLC was the name) he was quite impressed. Over the next few months his sight got better and better. He was now able to see better that he could see before with his glasses. he seems to be seeing a lot of fog or hazyness in the left eye(his bad eye). So he kept going back every few months to see if the haze would clear up...and it hasn't. So, in a few days we are heading back to TLC for his consultation and in a month's time...another surgery on the bad day. Good thing there is lifetime warranty with the surgery. If he gets to the point of needed 'double vision'...arms aren't long enough...the following surgeries are covered for life. Nadine | | | | | | |
