Lost episode 4.09 - spoilers!

So, for those who watched the episode from last night, what did you think?
Personally, I'm still a little confused with the flashbacks/flash-forwards, because I've completely forgotten when it was that they got on the island. When Ben asked the woman the date, she told him October 24th (I think), 2005. So does that make it a flashback or a flash-forward? I remember it should be about Christmas (or just after) on the island, but I can't remember what year...
I'm also a little sad to see Alex go, but I wonder if Ben was lying when he said "she's not my daughter." We know she's Rousseau's daughter for sure, but is Ben the father?

I liked the episode this week, I actually thought that Claire was the one going to get killed, but then that would have been to obvious since we know that Kate is in the future off the island with her Aaron. I was surprised that they killed Alex but they did have to show Ben that they meant business. As far at the comment Ben made about changing the rules, there must be an ethics code about killing family.
Does anyone have any idea what that black monster is yet?

I also thoguht last night's episode was good. Good fake out with Claire, I thoguht that they would kill her off then, but instead it was poor Alex.
I don't think Ben was lying, I think it was just an unsucessful gamble. I'm interested to find ut a bit more about these "rules" Ben kept referencing with Widmore.
I also love how Protective Saywer is of Hurley. I'm worried about what will happen to Hurely when he is alone with Ben and John.

I have a feeling that Hurley is going to get tired of Ben and John sooner or later, especially since he ends up as one of the Oceanic 6. So eventually, he's gotta leave the camp of the "I'm not leaving EVER" folks. :)

I liked last night's episode .. I don't think it was the BEST ep but It was moving the story further along... It sucks that alex was killed though I kinda saw it coming... I don't think ben was lying when he said she wasn't his daughter...btw it was a flash foward because oceanic 815 crashed on sept 2004 , and also said was in it so thats another hint that it wasn't a flashback

Ah, good call on it having to be a flash-forward if Ben and Sayid knew each other. :) Sometimes things like that get past me... :)

I thought it was a pretty good episode but I think Ben was lying or more like trying to bluff but it blew up in his face, if you rememer he went to see Charles Whitmore in one of the flashes to the future and said you murdered my daughter now I'm gonna murder yours. It does get rather confusing doesn't it , I believe that's the reason they called it Lost...lol. Do you think it will return next season, I can't imagine how far they can take it, do you think some stay behind on the island since we already know only 6 get off? Damn I hope they don't kill off Sawyer he's too hott!!!
