Happy-Go-Lucky is the new British comedy film by Mike Reid. I saw it last night and was very surprised at how strange and original it was.
There's no real plot per se, just a glimpse into the life of the constantly upbeat Poppy and the cast of characters she encounters in her life. She's awkward, always cheerful and odd and is almost never phased by any negativity that comes her way. She's a little irritating and it's sometimes cringeworthy viewing to watch her bulldoze through other people's barriers, but it's also very funny in places if you just let yourself go and enjoy the life affirming message of Poppy's approach to life. My partner and I came away feeling happy and positive and with some new tactics on how to deal with life's ups and downs.
I definitely think it's worth a watch.
