It is not very often that people speak of Borderline Personality Disorder. So whenever the subject comes up I try to educate people on this painfully disabling disorder. It is the disorder that I have been diagnosed with.
The interesting thing is that in reading about the disorder it is quite easy to spot someone you know or have known in the past. Check out what this website has to say and tell me what you think.

Hi Rozie, thanks for posting the link. I knew you had some mental health issues, (no disrespect to you), I have wondered what your disorder was. you have spoken about being diagnosed with a disorder before. I have been too polite to come out and ask you. I would not want you to ever think I was being rude or disrespecting you. I did read about the disorder, I do understand more then what I knew before. The link had lots of good info. We all need to educate ourselves more about mental health issues. Just about everyone has health issues, some people have arthritis, some High blood pressure, heart problems, mental health problems. We as a society need to learn not to be afraid of talking about these kinds of problems. I hope I am making sense. I have alot of respect for you. Its true I don't know you in person, what I do know of you here in mylot is that you are a good person. Your personality does come thru with your writing. Take care, I hope many read the info from the link.

I do not mind talking about my disorder at all. Although, there are many times when I am not allowed to mention it because medi-cal is not willing to pay for therapy for someone with this personality disorder. They believe that we will never get better. So I have become some what of an advocate for people with my disorder.
I have come across other people on Mylot who have the same and I have talked about it before. I can not afford to be embarrassed because so many people say negative things about the ones with this illness. Basically, I am a result of what happens to abused and neglected children(mostly girls). It is the most painful disorder and the hardest to treat.
I do not feel sorry for myself though, I know that everything happens for a reason. I thank God that my mental issues do not affect my intelligence. It only affects my emotions. The other day, one of the new staff here told me that because of my mental illness, no one was going to listen to me.
That comment got me an hour long meeting with the admistrator, assistant administrator, and for some reason the account. They were asking me if I would be willing to allow them to attempt to handle this staff, instead of calling state licensing to get her fired. I agreed because it was the right thing to do.
But that comment had a very frightening impact on me. That is one of the major fears in the mental health community. That we will not be heard. I was up all night trying to calm down from that one. But all and all, I feel that I have improved a lot in recent years. It is rumored that Princess Diana and a few other celebrites have had the same disorder. But again, no one wants to speak of it.

I know this discussion is as old as the hills but I had to comment. Pretty much being diagnosed Borderline makes you a psychiatric leper, almost. I was diagnosed Bipolar about six months ago but now they are trying to figure out if I am Borderline or if I have BOTH (dear grief). I have tried to educate myself on so many articles on the disorder and I just don't think I have it. I also don't think I'm Bipolar but everyone else in the world does. Maybe I just don't see things clearly.
