If You Bought It a Truck Brought It

Today, the truckers descended in Washngton, D.C. -- in their trucks. Oy, the gridlock. But that is normal. :) They were here to protest the high price of gas. You think you got it bad filling up your car, try filling up an 18-wheeler. Some of them are barely hanging on. The companies are passing on the high price of gas to the consumers, but not reimbursing the truckers like they should. Something needs to be done about that. Something also has to be done about the price of gas. Their plan to cap gas at $2 just won't work. Price freezing just creates inflationery pressures. But, McCain's plan to repeal the gas tax temporarily should help. Even 50-80 cents less a gallon wold be nice, while still letting the gas station owner (not the gas company itself) make a profit. Any other ideas? remember, all the stuff sitting on the store shelves was brought to that store in a truck. There is literally no other way to get the stuff from the distribution point to the actual store. So, something needs to be done.

It's funny that you should entitle your post with that witty line. It's funny because there has been a homemade sign on the side of the freeway near my town that says the exact same thing- If you bought it, a truck brought it. I have always liked it because it proves that America(or anywhere for that matter) functions because of our truck drivers. The price of gas is outrageous and if anyone can do something about it, the truckers can. Also, what is in the store is brought by truck, you're right about that, but also the gas was trucked in, wasn't it??? Who are they fooling? Us!

Yeah, I stole the line from the truckers. The gas comes in the trucks, but the trucker still has to pay for gas. It is apparently unethical to siphon from the tanker to fill the tank. So, even the gas tanker truckers are getting hammered with high gas prices.

I was spouting a bit of sarcasm. I meant that everyone who purchases gas, whether for business or pleasure, is getting the short end of the proverbial stick. All our cars should be converted to the used vegetable oil concept. That would teach 'them', whomever 'them' is.
