The Past or the Present.  | |  It all starts in high school and college. You meet someone become close to him and all of a sudden you're looking at him with this starry-eyed stare and seeing something more. Usually at this age, we still believe in true love and predestined love hate. The whole we-are-meant-for-someone ideal. As you spend more time with each other, raging hormones urge you to day dream of long night talks, walking along the seashore and the likes. And then it occurred to you almost automatically, 'I'm in love for the first time'. Both of you might start a relationship with each other. Chances are, it'll work out BUT most often, it won't. Let's assume both of you, under a few certain circumstances broke away from each other bringing emotional baggage that you haven't put down until the present and remains UNRESOLVED. You may have been calling him names for last few years and hating him. THEN, suddenly, when you've pushed that memory deep he comes back wearing that same smile, the kind which sweeps you away.
And at that right moment, when you're feeling all the magic dawning on you.. you're boyfriend/suitor whatsoever appears by your side telling you to that it's time to go.
Will you stay? Will mutter an excuse to stay and by the time you get back to him you break the news, "I'm still in love with someone else, it won;t work out between us'? Or you'll just go away, avoid the expense of hurting, give the Past a smile and introduce him to the Present and just walk away AGAIN?

It's alright to daydream but I guess one can't daydream all his life and at one point or another, he or she should make the ultimate decision whether to stay with his beloved or love the one who loves him. And as a famous song goes, either way one of them will get hurt in the process of making that decision.
Personally, I believe that God sends us a partner who will complement us. Sometimes, others call it serendipity. I feel that being committed with another person and spending your entire life with this particular person is like completing a puzzle. And in this instance, I would choose the one who really loves me, which most of the times is the "present". Usually, he or she is the one who accepts you of your past, knows your mistakes and still loves you. It doesn't mean that both of you never argue because sometimes, we also need arguments to really understand each other.
But whatever comes, you should be sure of yourself and your decisions you make. If you think you made a mistake, don't look at your mistake long enough that you miss the happy moments with each other and chances life is providing you.
