Children always ask questions. Its an innate character at their age where they wonder how and why things around them exist. But there's this one incident that changed the way i see them. My cousin was 5 years old then. They were three little girls in their family and she was the second child. At a very young age, their mother died due to a serious ailment. So her father was the one who became a "mother and a father" to them. Years later, their father decided to marry again. Having a step mother was no big issue for them. One Sunday evening, before my cousins went to sleep, as usual they had a casual talk with their dad. My cousin popped out a question to his father. Asking,"What if dad one day we'll meet mom in heaven, will you still be choosing her or will you be with tita(her step mom)?". Her dad was startled with the question. He can't even utter an answer for a moment. Sure he had one difficult question from a kid.

I guess he should of answered that when we get to heaven we will all be together as one. There will be no pairs, that is a tough question to answer for a child, I try to answer children as honest as I can, I don't think lying to a child is the way to go, apparently the child wanted to know if their father would be glad to see their mother again and would go back with her as it was not like her just picking up and leaving, she had no choice and they child wanted her parents to be together again. I don't think it reflect anything against the step mother just that her parents should be together in heaven.
