Have you ever had a friend use you?

I recently broke a friendship with a couple with 2 kids that would constantly ask to borrow money and never return it. They would also expect my fiance and I to jump everytime they need a hand or had a family emergency. However my icing on the cake was when we moved last Halloween, we needed help and they promised that they would help us to move into our new house. We set up the time and they agreed but, when it all came down to that night, they backed out with their excuses yet again! So I haven't talked to them since! Do you think I did the right thing?
