Child Support  

How much does he pay? How much is "way less than 400 per kid"? Is that $400 a month? Have you talked to him and your sister about your finacial situation and asked him to help you out? Does he have court supported visitation? Have you talked to other members of your family about this?

First off, your ex marrying your sister is just wrong and your sister is dead wrong. But regardless to who he's with, he's still paying. Keep in mind, the more a person makes, the more taxes come out. So if he makes almost $6000 a month, the taxes that come out of his check has to be $1000 or more. You said that he pays less than $400 per kid, so that means he pays $300+ per kid, that's at least $1200 or more. Your doing good for getting that much. Whether his married or not, he still has bills to pay to. Whether his wife has a job or helps out financially, he still has rent or mortage to pay, he still has a gas, electric, phone and cable bill to pay just like you. If he has a car, he has insurance and matenance and has to keep gas in his car to. Its not his fault that you have lots of bills, as long as the $1200+ that you get goes towards your bills along with your income, your good. As far as the homecoming dress, why can't you both put in for it? Is your income as much as his is? Just because he pays child support that doesn't mean that when there's extra stuff that the kids want, he is expected to get. If they want extras and you do to,it should be on you and him to go in on it, not just him. You have a big food bill, I'm sure he has a food bill to with him, the wife, their kid and ya'll 3 kids when they visit and spend the night, weekends or holidays with him. Put your feet in their shoes, lets say he stayed single, he had the kids, your income was almost $6000, you payed cs of $1200+, you remarried and had a child with your new husband. What would the situation be like then if your daughter asked you to help with her homecoming dress. Would you suggest, I'll talk to your father about it and we'll get you a nice dress? Their father was also wrong for telling the daughter, ask your mom, I pay child support. He should've told her, I'll talk to your mom and we'll get you a dress.

wow, are you serious, i was paying $397 monthly but now i hhave custody of my child for the time being and i was working a 8 hr job at the time!



i still cant believe that! but just talk to him about your situation because when it comes to the the kids, im sure he'll do somthing about it!

First of all - assuming there is a legal divorce decree with a child custody/visitation agreement, allowing him visitation is not a privilege that you can give or take away depending on how much or whether he pays child support. One is not linked to the other - you can not legally withhold visitation rights because he doesn't pay child support.

In addition to the circumstances of the children for which he is ordered to pay support, the court takes into consideration that he has a wife and another child to support.

It seems like for the amount he makes, the amount he pays is reasonable. How much is it that you would consider to be an adequate amount for him to pay?

I can't image how hard it would be that he's married to your sister now and seeing the things that he does for her kids that he may not do for yours.

You could try talking to him... I don't know if that would work... Unfortunately there may not be anything you can do. I wish I had a better answer but it just sounds like a tough situation overall.
