I probably wouldn't open it and bin it. However I would be wondering why someone would send me a letter/envelope that had those words on it.

I would likely give the unopened envelope back to the giver directly. I mean, why give me something with a condition that I can not use it or even look at it? what's the point? no thanks - keep your envelope and its contents and you decide if you wish to open it or not... if you are giving it to me it is mine to do as I wish with it.

Well considering we still get some mail here at the shop for Wayne, I don't pay attention to that unless I know whom it is from. See, some companies can't get it in their heads that he is retired and as it's directed to the shop, we need to open it. I have accidently opened things of his that I knew were strictly for him when digging through a pile and pulling the wrong one. If it was one of those "Do Not Open" till such and such date, well, that would depend on what it was for, birthday, holiday, whatever. Also on whom it was from. I would really try to wait.

Following situations would best describe my answer:
1. If the envelope is given to me by a person well known to me asking me to keep it for some time but not to open it, that he would receive it back after such specified period, i may keep it unopened.
2. If it is received by me otherwise, and the giver is not known or uncertain, i will definitely, out of curiosity, open the envelope, come what may!

I really don't know, I cannot imagine getting an envelope that said do not open, what would be reason someone would have something in an envelope and it could not be opened. Now if I was snooping in somebody else business, I would not open that envelope or any other.

I'd open it right away I think. That thing doesn't bother me. If I wasn't supposed to get it or open it, then why did I get it in the mail in the first place? Then again I guess I could be considered pretty crazy on that front.

I guess it would be according to who gave it to me and for what reason.. I can't imagine waiting very long to open it..

I wouldn't open it. Clearly, its a marketing scheme and these type of things just don't work for me. Negative reinforcement really doesn't appeal to me. I'm more persuaded by positive reinforcement so if someone wants me to open a sealed envelope, one has to put the words "Open Me Quick" and I'll do just that.
