"Turn Up the Radio!" | | If I were to ever vacation in your town or city, no matter where in the world you live, what station(s) on the radio do you like and would recommend? Do they stream online where I can check 'em out? For me in NYC it's: 1. WFUV-FM 90.7 2. WNYC-FM [NPR] 93.9- I bought Kirsty MacColl's CD and the sndtrk to the movie Curious George because they played it [It's FANTASTIC and not just for kids. Jack Johnson did a gr8 job]. 3. WQXR-FM 96.3- CLASSICAL 4. WBAI-FM 99.5- From talk to music 7 everything that not mainstream media oriented. My fave time to listen is Sunday eves from 7pm-9pm when they play old time radiow shows like Jack Benny, The Shadow, Suspense & other goodies. 5. WOR-AM 710 - FROM 10AM-4PM Monday-Fridays; and Saturdays I listen to the Pet Show from 4pm-6pm. A lot of the pop, hip hop and current radio stations are okay but not as great as there were even 5-6 years ago. It's weak. Then again the stations are not weak and lame. It's the lame music of all the little carbon copy, singers that all sound a like that are horrendous.

The best station in the UK has got to be Radio one especially between 6.30am to 10 when Chris Moyles is on - he's so funny and between 4 - 7 in the afternoon when Scott Mills in on. You can go online and listen to their shows again (you don't have to listen to them live) They play good music too - usually chart stuff. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/ find the presenters I've mentioned and usually there is a link to their podcasts (snippets of their show for the last 7 days I think!)

| PurpleCamoCeo4WLS (42) | 3 months ago | Hi there Bizziebod, Thx a lot. I always kinda like to listen to Radio 7 too with the replays of some old radio classics like The Goon Show, Dad's Army and I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue. And other radio dramas. Including Dead Ringers too which came on over here in the US on digital cable on BBCAmerica for just a year or two. But I also dig BBC 6. Just as you said, local radio is crammed w/ too many commercials. It's the same here. Yet if it's from another nation it's pretty cool to me because of the novelty of it and the different products that are advertised over there. So for me as far as Local BBC radio goes I used to listen to Radio Southern Counties [a few years ago I'd call in live to give a shout to my brother-inlaw and his wife in Surbiton. They got a kick out of that:-}]-Kent-Nottingham-Cumbria and Cornwall. I listened to them mostly because I either had friends or in-laws that reside there and wanted to hear what they heard cuz I missed them so much. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to check out Chris Moyles and Scott Mills on their re-broadcasts. Thanks for the suggestions and take care. Cheers luv, 'J'
