I'm from the Philippines, and rice is our staple food here. We're one of the major importers of rice to other countries but recently, the price of rice has been going up. I'm not sure if it's because of the weather change or maybe we've been selling too much rice to other countries that we're having a shortage here.

Rice is grown all over the world, not just in Asia! Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, California, Missouri and Texas grow most of what is used in the States... otherwise, it would be imported, and more expensive. I can't see Asia not selling rice to anyone... their economies would suffer enormously!

Rice is the staple food in Asia. If there will be a scarcity of rice, it is the asians who will be greatly affected because it is their staple food. Unlike the westerners, europeans, italians and others who's staple food is bread, pasta or noodles. So, if rice will not be sold in those countries, they will not be affected coz they have bread, wheat, pasta to eat, unlike the asians who really depend on rice. Only the asians living in those countries like US, Europe who likes to eat rice than bread and pasta who will be mostly affected and should worry. Rice production in some countries are affected coz of the climate change and urbanization/ industrialization wherein ricelands are being converted into real state land and industrial land.

Left over rice

Everyday I have rice left over and kept in the fridge. Or sometimes thrown away which I do not like at all. Can you give me any ideas of preparing some other dish out of this left over rice.
