I've started texting |
|
I've developed a whole new respect for text messaging. I never have really liked to talk on the phone and yet I was adversive to text messaging also. Thinking it was a little impersonal. But I don't know how many times during a conversation, there is always those awkward pauses, where neither one really knows what else to say, but doesn't want to be rude. Text messages seem to get the point across and you can respond in your own time without being put on the spot. Which do you prefer talking or texting?

1. dawnald (982) | 4 months ago | Talking unless I'm already on the phone and I need to get a quick message to somebody. But sometimes I goof around with it. Like we're in a restaurant and I text my husband who is just on the other side of the table. Or I send him a text message from his own phone. Then when he responds to the message he gets another message. hehe

2. Adelida2233 (812) | 4 months ago | I prefer texting as well, but for a different reason. My boyfriend and most of my friends are cops, so if I need to get a message to them, texting is the easiest way. I send the message, and they get it and respond whenever they are not busy. They keep their cell phones on silent so it doesn't interfere with what they are doing at the time, and most of them now know that if I need to get a message to them, thats how I do it.

3. minnie_98214 (3870) | 4 months ago | I also developed a new respect for texting. Me and my ex just cant get along and well texting has worked wonders for us when we need to communicate. Plus my hubby is a busy man so i can text him amd he can get back to me sooner and not have to stop and check his voicemail. Plus I love to send him kisses this way hehehe.

4. Goodie123 (6885) | 4 months ago | After working as a telephonist for many years, I avoid using the phone as much as possible. I would be lucky to use the phone once a month if that. I always try to avoid answering it also. While I hate text messages I would much prefer to use them. I will reply twice to a text message, but after that politely say I need to go.

9. sissy15 (125) | 4 months ago | It depends, I do love to text though. Me and my friend enjoy texting each other across the room when we are with other people lol. Drives them crazy. They automatically think we are talking about them when we really aren't. Plus it makes it easier for other people so they can answer in their own time. I'm also a fast texter so in a way it's much quicker for me. Although there are people I enjoy talking to on the phone, phone's are better when you are talking to someone you haven't talked to in awhile, and are catching up with each others lives. Then there are less awkward pauses, because there is so much to talk about.

kbourgerie (1608) | 4 months ago | I'm becoming better at texting all the time. I've got where on the keys the alphabet is. Makes it easier.

|
sissy15 (125) | 4 months ago | Yeah, it does make it easier. I can text without looking at the keys or screen. However I prefer to look at the screen. Also using Word helps a lot, it forms the words for you, and you just have to hit next if it isn't the right word. Some people find it difficult though. It is so much faster though, although I can text regularly pretty fast too, but it can be more of a pain to do it that way.

10. dolce_vita78 (3078) | 4 months ago | Here in the Philippines, texting is much way cheaper than talking. A text would cost about $.025 while a minute of call would cost about $.17. I guess this is one of the reasons why majority of Filipinos prefer texting over calling/talking. Personally, if I really need an immediate response for an issue at hand, I would prefer calling the other party. Besides, I would be able to say more things in a minute than in one text message. However, if my message is not really that important, I would prefer to text. Or, if someone texts me right this very moment, I would respond with a text message just the same.

kbourgerie (1608) | 4 months ago | I don't know why I never realized you were in the Phillipines. It seems to be the trend there to text. Many people have mentioned it in this discussion.
