Do you think tax returns should be a public information or it's a personal info?

On Wednesday, Italian government put online entire population tax returns. You can read about it on the news, but I want to know what you think about it. Was it a transparency matter so there's nothing strange or it is a kind of info that someone could choose to hide? I think it's no big deal if it would be a public info, maybe that should be some kind of control between neighbors :D (HEY!! That fella declared only 5.000€ but he has just bought a Ferrari!!! POLIIIICE!!!) but IMHO there should be at least some kind of control about WHO is asking that information... The other day they just put online the files and now they are all around the web available to all :D What do you think about it?
