Reviews give us different ratings that we can't determine which is really better

Sometimes I dont believe with reviews for some products. I know for a fact that some reviewsites are made or done to boost or promote a certain product to increase sales or usage. Antiviruses for example, in one review site a product is rated the best but the worst in another site. This gives a problem to users because we can't determine which product is really better. How would you solve this problem?

I notice that also, this is why I consult various sites among them are cnet's downloads.com and tucows; even forums where live testers are. For hardwares even stores and price movement. If I could evaluate them my self then so much the better. That's how internet work, with the vast source of information one has to weigh in which one are useful and which one are not.
