Laura Bush and the Cyclone |
| |
| Laura Bush was castigating the government of Myanamara for their lack of planning and willingness to help the cyclone victimes. For everything she stated could have been said about Katrina as well. What a fake!!! | | | | | |

| | I agree with you. The US didn't help much with Katrina, so why is she saying that about Myanmar? | | | | | | |

| | What happened in Katrina was INEPTITUDE. What's happening now in Burma (to call it Myanmar would legitimize the junta's illegal takeover) is OPPRESSION. The Burmese people have already been victimized by a killer cyclone, now the ruling junta is adding more insult to injury by refusing to allow foreign aids in. That is not INEPTITUDE as we've seen in Katrina, but plain and simple OPPRESSION. The Philippine Red Cross and the Philippine Air Force have assembled ready-to-fly rescue and medical teams, the way they did during the Asian tsunami and Pakistan earthquake, but it turns out that even these token gestures of help from a Southeast Asian neighbor isn't welcome to the Burmese power-hungry military junta either. To refuse aid to cyclone victims is just plain-right insensitivity. | | | | | | |

| | Same thing? No. Oppression is INTENTIONAL. Ineptitude is just plain stupidity. Intentional is worse. By the way, I'm no Bush fan, but it wasn't Laura Bush's ineptitude. It was FEMA's ineptitude. It would be unfair to call her hypocritical, she's just the First Lady, it was FEMA's responsibility to make sure Katrina victims were attended to. | | | |

| | I appreciate you.Laura Bush,as a first lady of U S, had no right to express her views on policies followed by a country.Whether that country a democratic or damogogy or not is a another topic.Infact, there are plenty of policies taken by the Bush government, which can critisised. | | | | | | |

| | You are correct. The policies of the Bush administration are anti-constitutional and interventionist. We have really gotten ourselves into trouble by interfering with the rest of the world. | | | |
