was i trying to hard  | |  my in laws came today i made every effort to please them i dont know why but i wanted everything to be perfect.Later i realised what ever effort i made it was wasted becoz the only thing they did was to critise me i dont know what went wrong was i trying to hard to please them?

I have seen my daughter-in-law in your predicament when she received her mother-in-law.
The poor girl is from a different country and culture to ours.
She told me she is determined to please Mum in every way and agree with her in any way.
But, sadly, things went wrong from the moment Mum set foot in the home.
It began with 'Why is the heater turned down?' to "That's NOT the way we do THAT pancake'
In general I told them "It is bad manners, and reflects on the family, when a person doesn't understand another"
You just can't please them all.
