I bought years ago a wrought Iron head board and thought it looked perfect for my morning glories to grow on, so i put it by the mailbox and every year they would decorate that area with pretty flowers...got home and noticed the sanitation men had come..i didn't put any trash out since i hardly have any..well its gone..can't prove they took it, but i'm so upset since I've had that their for 10 years and poof someone decides it might look good at their place or what?
So now i have for my poor flowers growing some V shaped wood thing for the flowers to grow over.
Wonder why anyone would do this and not feel guilty? Makes me want to tye down everything now.

That's a real shame Rosekitty...I was reading some of the other responders and your response...and you hoped that no one took the wrought iron head board due to wanting a quick way to make a buck by selling it as scrap...remember my discussion about the copper being stolen all over the place, even people risking their lives to cut through live wires to get the copper? So do you think this could be the case too? Wasn't aware though that people stole iron for cash...but yikes, you never know how low people will stoop

yes Pye..I noticed that a few mentioned about taking it for cash..I was even thinking about calling the recycle place and asking them if someone brought it in..who knows i may find it there but then if so would i have to buy it back..LOL..I had that sleepness night worrying over it..I know its just a piece of metal, but I guess its the idea of someone taking from me that bothers me the most..makes me worry now what they might take next? Maybe i should stay home from work..LOL..good excuse to stay home right?

Oh Rosekitty what a horrible thing to have happen. Maybe the trash men took it if at that moment in time nothing was growing up it, but difficult to prove or maybe they did take it as they liked it so much. Sorry for your loss. People do this unfortunately it is a sad fact of life. I am sure your flowers will look beautiful whatever they are growing up. Ellie :D

Thanks Ellie..the first thing i did after having dreams about my missing flowerclimber, was check to see if the wood thing is still there when i woke..it is and i think to discourage them this time I'm going to make it look uninviting..LOL

people just don't care, my grandmother used to say that people would steal your false teeth if you took them out of your mouth in front of them.

Wow, I'm sorry this happened to you, but isn't it possible that there was a new trashman today and they didn't realize it wasn't trash? If there were no flowers growing on it yet, maybe they didn't realize that's what it was.
I obviously don't know how you had it set up and maybe there's no way someone WOULDN'T know it was a permanent fixture, just trying to look at it another way.
I'll bet it was really pretty, and again, I'm sorry this happened.

Thats what i keep having going in my head but if you see my mailbox its inside a round barrel with a black iron bar from the barrel to the mailbox..dirt added and this wrought iron headboard was agaist the barrel behind the mailbox..they might have been new and just thought i had it there to get rid of, but again i would never have my trash behind a mailbox..its always on the other side...so i have to just get over this feeling of someone coming on my property and hope they didn't sell it for metal wages..

Based on how you're describing it, I wouldn't think it was the junk man either, but who knows.
Yes, its sad to think that someone would just come take it like that.

Hi rose Why would someone do this? Because sometimes people suck!! I'm sure
the replacement you have decided on just isn't the same and it will take awhile to come up with an arrangement you will be happy with. You have no choice because someone has taken what is yours...stuff like that is what I have to live with all the time. If you leave anything outside it's gone where I live. People just help themselves to whatever they want these days. Doesn't have to be valuable either.
A few years back my dad bought a tree and planted it out front of his house.
Not long after putting it in the ground he went to run some errands and when he returned someone had believe it or not stolen his tree!! It wasn't a special type of tree or super expensive. A couple days later he drove up the hill and saw his
tree planted in front of someones house!! Now it's not like he could prove this
so he let it go. That doesn't mean it didn't tick him off. Needless to say he never bothered to place it though...I do not believe these people feel guilty at all about what they do...Mamablaze!!

That is really a shame.. I bet the sanitation men did take it and will not admit that they made a mistake.. If they are like our garbage men, and it is an item that they want for themselves, they will take it and instead of dumping it, they keep it. I hope you can find out who did it and get it back..

whats one person's trash is anothers riches..I know its either a new guy or someone thought they could sell it for cash..think I will call the city and the recycle place and see what they say tomorrow.
As i was driving to work i was slowing down looking in everyone's yards..bet they all thought i was scouting their places out to rob..LOL
