In real life, it is very difficult to follow the advices that we give to others! Only a select few succeeds! The question is do you follow what u preach? Is there any instances when you could follow and when you could not? Can you elaborate?

I try not to "preach" or give advice much because most of the time it is NOT appreciated by anyone. And I definitely do practice what I "try not to" preach to others. happy

I try to practice what I preach at all times - if you mean this in the context of "don't ask of others what you won't ask of yourself" or to treat people as you would want to be treated. I myself can't stand hypocrites who either say one thing and then do another, or hold different people to their own sort of double standard... or just plain demanding that other people live up to a standard that they, themselves are not capable nor willing to live up to. Now, there are certain things I don't try to impose on others - religion and political beliefs, for instance aren't topics I particularly enjoy delving deep into with others, particularly those I do not know all that well. And other beliefs that can be very sensitive in such a personal sort of way are sometimes better left alone. Nonetheless, leadership does descend from character, and someone of good character will make every effort to live by what they believe in and strive to be the things they admire in other people.

I may slip in this practice if I feel I am being provoked or if someone is rude to me. However, I always go back to this core value that I would surely question the motives of a person who does not seem to be at the very least making an effort to embody what he or she feels are the ideal qualities in a person. I believe in striving to be an individual of true integrity, it is important to think about what you believe to be important in life regarding your relations to others, why you feel it is important, and try to incorporate that into your own life. Mistakes are an inevitability. What matters is how you handle those unfortunate stumbles.

Morning Snakequeen

First i try to not preach since i'm not perfect, but if anyone i know of friends and family want my advise, i tell them exactely what they need and any help they want.
Most is common sense and hopefully they can take it from there.

I have a teenage son, so I tell him what to do, but only in household rules, I don't tell him what to do in his personal life.
I don't give unsolicited advice.
I've found that even when people ask for your advice, they don't really want advice, they want you to agree with them, co-sign whatever it is they want to do.

I live by my beliefs, I despise a hypocrite more than anything.
Not sure if this is what you'rr looking for but I believe Same Rules For All in my home.
For example, if I walk in the door and leave it open while the A/C is on, my husband won't yell at me, but if our son does it, he gets yelled at. I feel either yell at us both or don't yell at all. I don't care which one itis, choose one and stick to it for everyone.
I tell my son not to throw his clothes on the floor BECAUSE I don't throw mine on th floor. My husband will tell our son, no clothes on the floor yet HE does it.
I can't stand that.
