This is a 5th grade math question and I need the answer. What does "of" mean in math? Thanks

if we say half of 2 it means half multiplied by 2...

They want a definition of the word itself? Wow, I'm sure glad I'm not in 5th grade any more. I believe it's associated with multiplication. Here's a link that seems to describe why. http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/58190.html

divison, use it in a sentance so i can double check :)
