 My boyfriend went out to a cabin with his dad and said they are going fishing. I asked him not to, but he said he is doing it anyway. He thinks it is okay because they are only doing catch and release. I do not see the point in doing that at all... I mean, they are not even trying to catch fish to eat... I didn't feel like arguing about it, he can do what he wants, so I said fine and dropped it.
What I want to know is why do people think that fish cannot feel pain? I hear this all the time (even my boyfriend the vegetarian who doesn't even eat fish said this!)
Do you think it is true that fish do not feel pain?

I believe that people do not think fish can feel pain because they can not cry or make other noise.
Fishing is really cruel, those poor fish suffocate. I can just imagine how cruel of a death that would be.

I think if people want to hunt since they think it is the natural "food chain" and "circle of life" and all that other nonsense maybe they should try doing it with their bare hands instead of a rifle... since, you know, it's so natural for them. Humans think they own all the animals of the world and just want to forget that we, too, are animals and dammit if we aren't made the same way all other animals are, with feelings and instincts.
