Have you ever been a victim of ID theft?

So, I deal with a lot of people who claim to be victims of ID theft. They deny the ownership of the account and believe someone used their information fraudently to open the account. I was wondering if anyone on myLot has been a victim of fraud. Have you ever committed fraud against another person? If you've been a victim, how did you clear your name? Did you think it was a hassle? Did you contact the company or did you contact the collection agency/credit bureaus?
I am so paranoid that I even have an initial fraud alert on my credit report. It expires after ninety days, and I alwayx write the credit bureaus every ninety days to keep the fraud alert on there. I haven't been a victim of idenity theft, but I'm so worried. I've heard horror stories so I figured if I put that alert them people will have to verify my information by calling me to extend credit, right?
Thank you for your time, have a wonderful day!
Pablo
