just keep letting him draw..when he gets a bit bigger you can get him other mediums like crayons or water color makes sure that theres always lots of paper to draw or sketch on. you must be really excited to see your son draw and have something that he is into:) keep me updated on his progress ayt...

Hi chumin!
I think that you should let him draw whatever he like. That can develop his skill in future.I think he still too young to understand what he was drawing.
You can let him see some kid's programs or cartoon books, they're also helpful for develop imagination for children.
This is my first respond,so I think it has some mistakes.I guest that you come from China.I can speak a little bit Chinese.Nice to meet you.Hope that your child can draw perfectly in future!

Just give him the tools to draw, make them available all the time and I also suggest that you collect all his drawings and get them on a wall enabling him to watch them. that will encourage him to draw more and will make you good memories in the future.

I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil - about 2 years old, also. I'm 25 now, and throughout my life, people encouraged my drawing, even when I was young.

If you are not an artist yourself (no one in my family was, either), the best advice I can give you is to encourage him and praise him when he draws, even if it's just scribbles, circles, or random shapes you can't make out. Coloring books are a good idea, too, but don't push him to stay inside the lines, just let him go nuts with the crayon on his own, and tell him how good it is when he's done:) The important thing is to give praise for things he draws, and never say "that doesn't look anything like a [insert thing he was trying to draw here]".

If you*are* an artist, by all means, draw simple things like circles, triangles, and other shapes and try to have him mimic them. In retrospect, I would have loved a teacher when growing up - I'm entirely self-taught, and the only reason I never gave up on it is because of the encouragement of others.

Hello!
Here's a very useful link in properly teaching your child how to draw or be creative at such a young age:

I would definately just let him do the drawing for now - he is so young. Just encourage him and get him paper and the art supplies he can use now. Later maybe engage him in basic techniques - like you draw something and have him try to do his own replilca of the same piece. But I would definately discourage you from being too instructive at this point in time - you wouldn't want him to not want to do it any longer.
