ok, so as a mother myself, you would think that i would be all on board for the concept of a day dedicated to mothers, but i'm really not. i mean, it's kinda like valentine's day to me. one of those days created by the greeting card companies to generate sales during a time of the year that they usually wouldn't. i feel that in order to show true love and appreciation for someone and what they do, it should be shown everyday. it's as simple as a hug, or a kiss goodnight. i don't think that a man or child should have to go for broke to prove that they love you this one day out of the year.
this is my first "official" mother's day. this time last year, i was in my second trimester. and it was amazing to me how many people didn't acknowledge the fact that i was a mother because my daughter wasn't born yet. and now that my daughter is here, i feel as much of a mother today as i did this day last year. if this day were so important to the world as the media wants you to think it is, it should be mandatory that all mother's have a paid day off. or at least a day of from work. or some minor inclination that your employer cares that you are spending "your" day ar work with them.
