What makes a person get gray hair? Is it a vitamin deficiency?

Personally I think KIDS cause gray hair. And maybe husband's too. lol I don't know what causes gray hair technically but I do know it must have something to do with genes. If your mom or dad had gray hair early in life you are more likely too.

You know this is a real bummer because i am only 40 and have more grey than my aunts and uncles who are 70 and 80. And i get tired of dying my hair but if i dont i will have a full head...and my 16yr old daughter has a few strands too.

Hehe that's correct sisterjinx. My mom used to say that but she never had gray hair yet. My father does. I see a bit of gray hair on my head as we speak. I don't understand why this is. I hope this isn't anything serious. :(

age,stress,heredity..my hair started turning at 15,so in my case i'd say heredity. sometimes injuries on your scalp will cause hair color change also.the area near the wound loses pigment and will come back in grey/white.

Grey hair is typically caused by a reduction of melanin in the affected hair follicles over time. Blonds will often turn completely white because there is a low amount of pigment in the hair follicles to begin with.
