If you are from the thinking that christians should listen to christian music, would you listen to anything that is not from a christian artist? I have for years been dedicated to christian rock, but lately as my children have become adults I find that I love some of the music from Creed and Nickelback. What do you think? All christian or nothing? Or maybe as long as the message is good the music is good?

I don't believe it is wrong to listen to other music as long as you have a balance and you don't let it influence you. Now if put this music over God, then God may deal with you. What's wrong to one person isn't wrong for someone else. Let me give an example to help you see what I mean. My pastor has to limit is watching football. Is football wrong? Not really, but he loved football so much, that he put it 1st. Does any of this make since? May God Bless you in all you do!

It does make sense to me, but have you ever felt the music? I mean when you hear a specific song does your foot tap or body sway? If you listen to angry music do you find yourself more irritable? I have noticed a change in myself and others around me based on what was going into their minds. Kind of like watching a sad movie and feeling the emotion then carrying that emotion around with you until it manifests in your life? I have often wondered if I am the only one music has such an effect on.

I enjoy the music. I let it move me, but I still have a balance. Some people listen and live by the words of the songs that are not Christian just as Christians do to Christian music. There is a difference between living by the music and enjoying the beat or even some of the words. Like I said, it's balance. Have a Beautiful Day!

I think both creed and nickelback have some very good, spiritual songs, I'm not sure how spiritual nickelback's "never again" song is but that was one of my favorites for a long time, being I could so relate to it. I dont think God is going to be upset if we listen to other kinds of music, I actually prefer the blues and I have been a christian for quite a while now, he will lead us where he wants us to go, it is up to us to listen, hear and follow :)

I understand about never again, I can relate as well. But I wonder if it did not set my forgiveness back a day or two, you know? I am struggling with loving songs like Savin me but not wanting to financially support songs like Figured You Out. That I guess is my true dilema. Sorting through the garbage to find the rare gem.

God created all the music in the world, but the devil warps it when the lyrics desecrate God. I've listened to all types of music, I feel the best when I listen to Christian music, the message speaks to my heart. Secular music has its place too, I'm not against it, but if I have to filter it or buy the censored version it goes against what I want to have in my head. GIGO, its a computer term, Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Not much I can add here. I agree to GIGO I just wish that some artists would realize that we would listen to more of their music if the left the junk out.

I am a born again Christian. I usually listen to a christian music but it seem that- i found out that there are worldly music that i can still find comfort to listen. For me it is not the artist or it is a christian songs, the important is you can find comfort out of it.

I see what you are saying but I think we must be careful. There is a certain comfort in a bottle too if you get what I mean. And never forget satan offered Christ the comfort of food..... for a price.
