I dug up a new area in my lawn for a vegetable garden to add to the other areas I have things growing this year. I have a variety of seedlings pictured here that are sitting outside for a couple days to get used to the change in weather etc from indoors. In the background you can barely make out a large tomato plant. I think this is a Best Boy variety. Not too sure. It was grown from a seed of one we grew last year actually. I have 7 cantelopes, a bunch of bell peppers, banan peppers, and a variety of tomatoes as well. I have green bean seeds, sweet corn seeds, and green and yellow onions also to plant this weekend. I'll be buying the cuke plants, zuchinni plants and whatever else tickles us at that time this weekend. How far is your garden comning along?

I usually have a garden. But we want to move and I didn't see the sense in starting one up this year. Now it looks like we won't move before the fall. Way to go hubby:(

I really wanted a garden this year especially with the prices of food going up and up but I had major surgery on April 8th and havent' gotten back to myself yet so no garden planted yet. If I can, I may try to plant a late garden since we live where it doesn't snow, it might work. I will have to hope that I heal soon so I can get something planted for us. It sounds like you have a great selection of stuff in your garden!

What kind of surgery? I have a large variety of things each year.
A lot of work but oh so worth it when everything ripens.

Most everything is growing really well so far in my garden. I'm really happy and shocked as this is the first time I have ever done a garden. I am going to have to go out this weekend and do a little weeding though. I can't get out there much during the week as I am at work. I already have strawberries growing on my strawberry plant.

The only seeds I planted didn't make it, so this week I just planted the seeds directly into the ground. I have mustard, peppers, radishes and squash planted. I hope to get some tomato starts, but my favorite, the yellow pear, are really hard to find..I went to a pretty large nursery last week and they didn't have them..

I only have my flower gardens out front as the dogs own the little bit of back yard that we do have here in the city. I grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin and we used to have a 3/4 acre garden. My dad was old school and I can remember watching him with a hand cultivator and then sitting on the row maker to sink the rows deep enough for some of the plants like potatoes. I was 10 or 11 when he finally started having a friend of his come over with his tractor and break the ground in the spring. I am 46 and my daddy was 45 when I was born. I cannot imagine doing all the back breaking stuff he did.
