My Letter To The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation About Neil Diamond  

As I stated in my previous post, I am trying to start a letter writing campaign to have Neil Diamond FINALLY inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is the letter I will be mailing to them tomorrow morning.

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to call to your attention the glaring omission of an amazingly talented singer/songwriter from the Hall of Fame to date. Neil Diamond has been part of the American music scene since the 1960s, and he continues to be popular today. This is a career which spans five decades, and deserves to be recognized by your foundation.

Let me draw your attention to just a few of Neil's career achievement:

1) He has sold over 125 million albums worldwide.
2) He has scored 36 Top 40 hits.
3) He won a Grammy Award for the soundtrack from Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
4) He won a Golden Globe Award for best original score, also for Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
5) He was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 1984.
6) He received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000.
7) His album Home Before Dark debuted at the top of the Billboard charts in 2008.
8) He consistently sells out huge concert venues around the world, whether he appears for one night or ten in the same venue.

Neil Diamond is the epitome of the "total package." He is singer, songwriter, and consummate performer. His music appeals to people of all ages, and he continues to bring young people into the fold of Diamond fans. He is, quite simply, a living legend, and he has been a Hall of Fame artist in the hearts and minds of the public for decades.

The name of Neil Diamond is forever written into the history of American music, and he consistently proves to us that he has earned our devotion and admiration. His music crosses all boundaries. His writing style is unique, and his songs are a reflection of Neil Diamond the man....each one just a little piece of who he is on the inside.

We have been blessed to share his talent in our lifetimes. Now let us show him how much we truly appreciate the gifts he has shared with us, the way he has touched our lives, by giving him the recognition he so richly deserves. PLEASE induct Neil Diamond into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009!!
