The less you know, the more wisely you seem to choose. I recently read an article describing above sentence. I would like to know the general consensus. Do you think that it may be true?

In my view more you know the better you choose. What did the article say. Where was it published? What are your views regarding this.

The logical response, that the more you know the better you choose. It is difficult to accept that the more we know, we choose badly. In some areas more information may confuse the brain. In one of the studies one set of participants were given complete details of different cars and the other set, minimal details. The group with minimal information made better choices. I know i am opening lot of controversies. The cohort should be considered as general public and not a car mechanics or automobile engineers. The same was done with selection of stock portfolio and the results were some what similar. They are not conclusive proofs and we need not have to believe them but they have a point. In certain decision making processes, there is probably an optimum information which can be rationally analyzed by the brain. Beyond that probably it gets muddled. The article link is provided below www.moreintelligentlife.com/node/995 If the link does not work , try googling the term "Gigerenzer's paradox". Thanks for your views.

No. The more that you know, the more wisely you are able to choose. If you don't know something, then how are you going to choose wisely????

I dont really believe it or think it to be true. How can you make an educated decision without knowing all about the issue you need to decide on?! I really dont think its possible.

I really don't think that the statement is true. The more you know about both sides or about all your choices the more informed of a decission you can make. Of course, some people over think things when they know all the facts but that is the exception. I feel that the more I know the more likely I am to make the better choice. Rather than just randomly choose something.
