crab mentality is considered a common trait among filipinos and one that is not very nice.
like crabs, people with that kind of mentality do not want others to succeed. when some people they know seem to get up on the success ladder, they would do things to pull the other person down.
just like crabs. notice that when one tries to escape, the others just try to pull him down.
this is actually fueled by jealousy. although i have not heard much about it lately among the younger generation, in my generation that is quite popular.
what do you think about this? does this also exist in your country? you know somebody like this?

I think it exsists everywhere in the world and it is such a shame that people can't just be pleased that the other person has made a success of themselves, their business, their life. You would think it would inspire them to try to achieve in some way but no it is easier for them to moan about it and bring people down in some way. Very sad but very true. I for one love to hear of a success story. Ellie :D

Crab mentality doesn't just exist amongst filipinos. I've worked in other countries and have found this common in all walks of life and among other nationalities as well. It's because of competition. Unlike organized sports, competition in the real world is really harsh. Everyone does his or her own to get to the top.

maybe this does not only happen to filipinos... but is just very common among us. hehe
