well, you have to look at this way:

- Philippines' cars have less taxes as compared to other ASEAN countries, therefore, the cars here are cheaper.
- Not only that, the public transports here are abundant. You can get jeeps, FX, buses anywhere with minimal waiting time.

In my opinion, you should use the car when you really need it. Other than that, commute. That's my thoughts if you want to save money.

The increase in the price of fuel is inevitable. It is sad that here in the Philippines, the oil industry is deregulated. This means that the government cannot control this industry. Deregulating an industry can be both advantageous and disadvantageous. As far as the oil industry is concerned, this opened opportunities for other possible rivals for the big three (Petron, Shell and Chevron--formerly Caltex). However, the big three seem to be in a cartel and so they are really more powerful than all the smaller players in the industry. While it is true that the government cannot control this industry because of deregulation, they can always come up with ways to intervene. What they really need is political will.

Regulation is not wise. The Oil industry is a business and should be treated as such. Ever wonder why no foreign players want to invest in our electricity sector? The profit margins are not high enough. The result, we have an erratic grid system and high prices.

But the real reason for the high gas prices is due to the Elites who run the world. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAcxGD6-c-E
