in my opinion its true. there are lots of people who tend to say rumors and hearsays of what they hear. at times they tend to add other informations that cause the information to be untruthful. i would rather believe a person who really saw things happened than those who just hear things.

I think that an eyewitness that is credible will trump an ear-witness or ten if they cannot be firm about what they are testifying on. It is easier to impeach a witness in ten and render the whole testimony tainted or even just to sow some doubt on the veracity of what they are testifying on.
