Yeah, the idea sounds very nice. I don't know, I mean I've always been afraid to be an astronaut. After NASA lost some crew members. It's a bit scary. But to see the whole world at once and to glance at the universe sounds amazing. I think that would be the best thing, to see it all.

I suspect that before widespread space travel becomes a reality, the relevant agencies around the world are going to have to recalibrate their ideas about how the Universe works.

Until then, any means of space travel will likely continue to be ludicrously inefficient, ineffective, fundamentally dangerous and prohibitively expensive for anyone but the super-wealthy few.

For a start, reactionless inertial drives will have to become mainstream technology, as will self-powering energy generators, and they'll need to be refined and perfected a great deal.

These things already exist, at least on a small or even hobby scale, but are mostly being suppressed or debunked to protect vested interests in the existing economic and political power structures around the world.

I believe the ideal system of space travel will ultimately approximate a transdimensional interface, where you walk in one door on planet Earth and walk out the other side of the same door on Mars, or elsewhere. That will be useful here on Earth too.

That's a similar idea to the poplar Stargate TV series, except they've made it way more spectacular and complicated than it needs to be. The proper device will allow you to see through the gateway to the destination, and vice versa, because it's an interface, not a frigging "worm hole" or other fanciful nonsense. Please, let's keep things practical, shall we?

well i think tht it would be the best thing man kind could do. i would love to travel throught space to other planets and other galaxcys. i know right now were not advance enought to travel tht far from earth without it take a long time. exploring space we can learn more and mind other metels and other useable sources of fule.

I think it's quite pointless. The vast majority of people in the world have most of this world still to explore, yet it isn't enough for them and they want to go offinto the rhelms of space. It seems odd to me, because it's never made any impression on me, except as such an odd concept (the idea of infinite space etc.). I love to travel, but the earth is so huge, and the people, cultures and places are so wide ranging that it is near impossible to see them all, and harder still to get to know and understand them.
