But, if I don't agree with you, I am going to mark you negative!IS this right? Do you agree with that?well, I sure don't!
I've responded to a discussion (as well as another person that I know of)
and we were asked our opinions on a certain matter.
well, because I am raised in a christain family and choose to follow God's rules as much as I can (I'm not saying I am perfect at all, I know I mess up quite a bit!)
but, my belief was that I didn't agree with it.
I stated "this is my opinion" which that's what they were asking for was OUR OPINIONS..
I stated that I don't dislike people who make this decision, I just don't agree with it myself.
but because my belief was different and because I mentioned God (which is why I don't agree) this person marked me (and this other person who had the same belief)
as negative..
I don't agree with that. they asked for our opinions and we gave our opinions.
I could see if we do what some others do and just give one liner or one word responses or just type anything even if it doesn't go with the subject, but we didn't do that. we did what we were asked.
so I ask you, what is YOUR opinion about this?
do you think it's right to mark someone negative just because they have different beliefs/opinions than you?
no matter what you think, as long as you answer my question I won't mark you negative, so please give me your honest opinion, don't just agree with me because you want a positive rating.
Thanks!

Mylot is a place full of people with opnions. I see the negative as a mark for someone who is slandering a discussion or member for no cause reason. You will never find me giving a negative mark unless it is for a VERY good reason. To give a negative mark just because you dont agree with a persons "opnion" is childish and unnecessary. We are ALL entitled to our opnions.

Thank you very much for responding.
I agree 100%.
I was wondering if I'd get any responses concerning this.
too bad more people don't see that way, which I think that's what mylot is all about, different people and different opinions. no matter if I agree with someone or not, I will still respect their opinions and what they have to say.
Thanks again.

I agree with you, we all are entitled to our oppinion. Really the only time I rate negatvie is if the person is being very nasty. And Mylot is supposed to be a good community. Have a great weekend!

It is not fair to mark negative if you don't agree with discussion, tht is where ratings come in, and it really isn't fair, if you don't agree just don't rate the person. Any one that comes to my discusson I rate them possitive.

I just feel like when you post a discussion, your asking people their opinions. and there are so many people here your going to get all different opionions and views, not everyone is going to think the same way.
and as long as their answering your question, that's all that should matter.
your right, it isn't fair. not at all.
Thank you for giving your opinion.

Here's my opinion again using an example that hopefully won't get people quite so riled up. Let's just say that a post was started about it being legal to grill hamburgers in public parks. Animal rights activists come in and disagree because they believe that eating meat is wrong. Well, the original post wasn't asking if people thought it was right to grill hamburgers in general, it was asking if it should be legal to do it in a public park. Thinking meat is disgusting has nothing to do with it, no one will be forcing them to prepare it or eat it.
It was the same with the topic you're referring to. I don't want to mention the details but it's like this...it's fine that you're against "hamburgers", you don't have to like "hamburgers", you are more than welcome to think "hamburgers" are disgusting, BUT that opinion has no place in a discussion about "grilling hamburgers". People asking if it's legally wise to let people "grill hamburgers" aren't trying to discuss the moral ramifications of slaughtering an animal.
So, I stand by my opinion that in those cases a negative was warranted if the original poster felt those responses were not in line with what he was asking.

well again I am going to stick by what I believe..
if someone posts a discussion asking what people think about a certain situation or topic, then people should be able to post their opinions about it. no matter what their opinion is.
if they don't want to hear peoples opinions, then they shouldn't ask.
I do not agree with you, but I respect your opinion. that's the whole point. we don't have to agree, but it's our opinion..
Thank you for responding.
