My husband and I are learning French. Not just to know and have fun with, but for actual use. I learned that if we speak multiple languages to each other, when we have children our children will pick up multiple languages. Children who speak more languages than one generally have higher SAT scores and do better in school. What are your thoughts? If you are learning a second language what are your reasons?

I know many indian languages and now I am trying to learn spanish. Its so much fun and it feels so good to know another language.I love learning different languages because I like the idea of speaking to a person with his/her own mother tongue. It makes the other person happy and seeing that I feel happy.

That's great. Actually my first foreign language is English, and my second foreign language is French, too. I studied it for nearly a year. However, I seldom use it and I almost forget it, unfortunately. I think learning more foreign languages is good because you will have some advantages in the competition. Besides, it is great that you can communicate with other foreigners without a problem. I love China

I'm learning basic Korean right now, and have some basic French. I'm hoping to learn more French and hopefully one day become fluent in it :)
