I love potatoes but they are one of those things that one day the experts say they are fattening then the next day they are not, I don't listen too much to these things I say everything in moderation is good...

Potatoes are rich in carbohydrate not in protein.100 gms of potatoes contain only 1.6 gm while it contains 22.6gm of carbohydrates.Fat content is very poor in potatoes.The carbohydrate of potato easily converted to fat within body when we consumed it.So it is not suggested for diabetecians.It is rich in potassium,So it is good for people suffering from high blood pressure.
Protein cannot stored inside body.Body always reject excess protein.

hhmm..I don't think that it increases weight. I tried eating potatoes as a substitute on my rice. and I loss pounds with this. I think potatoes were healthy for us.and help us to lose weight.

hi... i love potatoes... whether as mashed potatoes, french fries, hash browns, etc. yum yum...however i try to eat it occasionally...LOL...heehehe...as to ensure i can manage my weight better...LOL... how often do you eat?

Potatoes are not rich in protein dear - erratum! They are rich in carbohydrate and they increases body fat. I like to eat fried potato chips.

First it depends on how your eating the potato. Is it fried, baked or mashed potatoes? If its fried, then yes you could gain weight quite easily. I eat baked potatoes with nothing added, so no butter, bacon or sour cream, as they add calories and fat.
I mash potatoes by adding lactose free milk, which is one way to get milk, which I need to have each day. Milk is one of the foods that I don't like, so have it in another food.

Potatoes are rich in carbohydrates. You will not gain much weight if you eat boiled potato. You will certainly increase your weight if you eat potato chips because of its oil content as it is fried.
