Reclaiming fabric is insanity

I have officially decided that anyone who reclaims fabric on a regular basis must be insane. Seriously. I have an old duvet cover (from the mid 60s) that I intend on using for some roman shades in my kitchen. It's got cigarette burns in certain areas, so using it as a cover was out. I sat down yesterday, thinking I'd yank out the seams and start sewing, and... OMG! My eyes!! The stitches on the duvet cover are smaller than any I've seen on any commercial bedding product in my life. They're absolutely frickin' tiny, and there are a lot of them. It's taken me eight hours to rip out all of the tiny stitches, and I think I gave myself carpal tunnel in the process. So, I take my hat off to everyone who regularly deconstructs things to reclaim the fabric. You all are some sort of superheroes. I've seen so many people on etsy creating things out of old clothing, sheets, etc. and thought it was a great idea and that was about it. It's a lot more work that you'd think! Unless there's some easy way that I've missed...

There must be a reason why you indulge in this insanity; we are after all, crazy in many ways. Some are crazy about money, others crazy about love. A lot of people are happy in their insanity. Cheers!!

To be happy in insanity is truly a beautiful thing, but I still think people must be fueled by some sort of superhuman go-juice in order to do what I did all of the time.
