I Think South Africa's Xenophobic Attacks are Great! | | This is my opinion as it gets rid of poor people and is opening up jobs, thereby lowering the unemployment rate.
What do you think?

| | | | | | | | 1. coolgadget (615) | 2 years ago | what do you mean by xenophobic. i have not heard of that. anyways, i haerd so many bad news today about SA. how they are attacking those illegal migrant from zimbabwe. hopefully that they will going to accept those people. as they are also people. but i really can understand if they really reject those people. but wish that they will have more love for other poor people. well i think that south africa is really one progressive country. and that they don't want their economy ruined by those illegal immigrants.

By the way, please could you examine your grammar before your post. I had to read your post three times before I saw what you were trying to say

coolgadget (615) | 2 years ago | can y ou correct it for me so that i will learn from my mistakes. as you see i am not really yet that good in english. you can help a lot thanks.
| |
|
|
| Henjin (63) | 2 years ago | I take it English is not your first language?
I can't teach you English in one post so I'll give you a few useful points
Anyway, step 1: Start all sentences with a capital letter
2: use word, just copy your post into word, run a spell/grammar check and copy back onto the internet, this might get rid of most of the errors
There's obviously a lot more you can do but following these steps is better than nothing

|
|
Pirate_Arg (262) | 2 years ago | A third useful point is to do what Henjin says, not what he does. Yes, Henjin, I'm mocking the way that you don't even use appropriate capital letters and full stops when trying to teach grammar. Also, MyLot doesn't let you copy paste long strings for text until you have a post count of 500 so a better idea would be a spelling/grammar checking plugin in your web browser.
| |
|
|
| Henjin (63) | 2 years ago | Oops, me bad
If there is a copy limit, why doesn't one simply copy in sections?
Or do as Pirate_Arg suggests and get a grammar plugin (presuming you use Firefox)
| |
|
|
coolgadget (615) | 2 years ago | Yes, those are really some helpful suggestions. Those will be such a good ehlp for me. As you see, i am really active in mylot right now. I try to post as much as i can cause i enjoy it not just because i want to increase my post count. and so in the process, i tend to submit my post without checking my spelling first. and actually i am learning how to speed faster that is why the mistakes in my grammar and in my spelling. i will try to slow down and hopefully i will be able to convey my message better and have lesser mistakes in my grammar.

coolgadget (615) | 2 years ago | so which side are you then. i would like to know which one do you favor.
| |
|
|
Pirate_Arg (262) | 2 years ago | I see you noticed the way I argue both sides of the fence because there really is no right side. The one side is incredibly stupid and most probably incompetant while the other is dying. Never underestimate the power of condensed stupidity.
But I am going to have to conclude that xenophobic attacks are not the right way because it is destroying our labor force that is willing to work rather than blaming their failure on outside causes.
| |
|
|
coolgadget (615) | 2 years ago | Yeah, i know that there is no right and wrong on this one. Or there is no absolute right and wrong on this kind situation. But i just wonder if you will favor one over the other. Or are you more showing more concern to the immigrants or are you more concerned over the rights of the South Africans to reject those people's entry to their country. But i think most people here in mylot will have the same answer as you. And so i will not any more insist to have one definite answer.

| | 3. mamuzo (153) | 2 years ago | Hi Henjin, You clearly have no idea what damage these xenophobic attacks caused in our country! You are entitled to your opinion of course . . . Unfortunately I do not agree with you. You see this is my opinion, the foreigners that the South Africans are attacking, killing and chasing out the country are not taking anyone's job but doing jobs that most South African do not want to do. It is by law that a company should not employ an illegal resident (foreigner) unless no South Africans are available to take on that particular job, so the government is not offering jobs to them. Private companies on the other hand struggle with South Africans that do not want to work (choosy, picky, lazy ... whatever the case may be)and resort to employing these hardworking, dedicated and ambitious people instead. Xenophobic attacks are nothing but a sad story that South Africa has to undergo at the moment. I truly believe that South Africans are venting their frustrations at the wrong people, we need to channel this energy into creating something positive and not killing each other like animals in the wild. What are we doing??

| | | 4. LCplHitman (74) | 2 years ago | Henjin, might I question your motives for saying that these Xenophobic attacks are creating job oppertunities? On a completely different note, remember the attacks in Zimbabwe against the farmers? Look where Zim. is now - an inflation of 100 000%, and yet there is nobody who can even try and produce a crop because the farmers were persecuted and 'removed'. Do you really want South Africa to move in that direction? Do you really want these attacks to spread to tourists when the 2010 Soccer World Cup takes place? Do you really want all of those people to live in fear of others?
| |
| |
|
|
| Henjin (63) | 2 years ago | The difference between South Africa and Zimbabwe is that the Zimbabweans did not take advantage of the opportunities opened up by the removal of foreigners. I hope that South Africans have the initiative to seize the new opportunities.
I personally disagree with violence in many ways, but on the large scale, violence is one of the most powerful catalysts for human development... just look at WWII and the advancements it provided. So I'm hoping that to some degree, these xenophobic attacks will improve our country.
I hope that if attacks spread to regular tourists, it happens now, so that people will be smart enough to avoid us in two years time.

| LCplHitman (74) | 2 years ago | from that perspective I can say that I do agree. And for that, I respect your views

| | | 6. gwamster (24) | 2 years ago | Henjin and Pirate_Arg, I going to tell you about yourselves and then you will tell me how wrong I am.
You seem to come from a medium to high income backround urban environment, you possibly went to a good government school or perhaps a private school where you spent most of your time on a computer. You have never left the country and the traveling you did around South Africa has been inside a car and inside hotels. You think your view of life is fine and you think you know enough about South Africa.
You are 18 years old. Have you even left school yet?
Now, you claim xenophobia is not such a bad thing as it creates jobs, have you ever had a job? I'm not talking about washing the dishes at home job for R10 from your mom, I'm talking about making a living to support yourself?
Do you have any idea what that's like? Do you think it's easy, especially in another country?
Do me 2 favours please, as a fellow South African who shares this country with me and foreigners, appreciate, like me, that you don't know whats best for the country at your nieve age. Secondly, go on a gap year to work and be independant if you have the courage. It will change your thinking.
But judging from your posts, you have no prospects of changing your thinking. But I want you to realise this.
Just remember, maybe one day, after the foreigners are all kicked out, the white 18 year old males will be targeted and some 15 year old coloured from Athlon will say:
"I think South Africa's white male attacks are Great!"
It puts things in perspective if you're willing to see.
Anyway, enjoy all the attention you're getting in the meantime. Jackass.

Pirate_Arg (262) | 1 year ago | Why exactly am I getting the proverbial slap on the wrist here as well? I believe that I was quite clear when I stated that xenophobic attacks are bad. Just because I don't neccesarily know what is best for the country doesn't mean I shouldn't discuss my views on current issues. I do believe that they are worth just as much as the views belonging to any other guy behind a keyboard. Old people don't know what is best for the country any more than young people do so what is the harm in talking about it?
I love the way you end your response: petty name calling. It says more about you than it does about me.
