i just remembered when i was child and spent night in my parents home, my father sometimes became so gentle and telling me about bedtime stories. it was all about the smart animal, fairy, prince and princess.
that was really wonderful moment that i ever had with my father
by the advance of time and technology, i seldom to hear that parents still telling bedtime story to their children cause nowadays, most of parents get works outside and back late of night
Television and games being the company of current children than with their parents.
so i just wonder if you still telling bedtime story with your children, please share with me in here. although i have no children at this moment, i will like to do that for my children later on

Oh I love to read with my son, a lot of the stories and nursery ryhmes I read are ones from my own childhood memories. It is our snuggle time before he goes to sleep. Some nights though he will just watch bedtime hour and be so sleepy he will not want a book but I read in the day too, in fact when I was potty training we had a storybook about using the potty which was fun and he used to sit on the pot and I would read it to him and we both found it very helpful only thing is he will probably grow up to be one of those men that read on the loo LOL. when i was a child my parents read a lot. it's a very good thing. children start learning from the moment they get born and the more you read to them the smarter they might get. i remember that my parents were reading to me a lot. they also said that when i was 1 year old i could tell all of disney characters (mickey, minnie, donald & co) and i could also tell numbers.they were walking me and i could read the house numbers, which is quite impresive. i don't know if it's true, but i sure hope so. i don't have children yet, but i will read to them when i'm pregnant as well and i will have them listen to classical music.

well, i didn't get to hear bedtime stories from my parents. but i do so for my kids or rather my son for now who's able to understand some. not stories of my own of course, but rather read storybooks.
but it's been a few days since i last read to him though. i must start on it again. i've just been too busy thus get tired easily at night and do not get in the mood to read usually nowadays.

I read to my daughter, every night when she goes to bed, I have to say that I am not conventional, I read her my books.
Although we have books from the library too once a week that are kids stories, she chooses her own and always goes for the grown up books, she loves it!!

I read to my kids everday while they were growing up.
At night we read 'Good Night Moon' because it's a very relaxing book that helps kids fall asleep.
All three of my kids still love to read as adults. I hope they will continue the enjoyment of sharing books with their kids.
Reading is the best!

I do it with my grandkids. I will sometimes read them stories, but they like the ones I make up better. We all have a place in the story, they love it. I can tell the same story over and over, they don't mind. The grandma witch always saves the little ones.

My 8yr old son would kill his dad if there were no bed-time stories every night. No matter how late dad returns or how late my son goes to bed (exam time), at least two pages have to be squeezed in. He’s past the age of fairies and princess and its ghosts all the way now. He just loves the ghosts stories no matter how casual or stupid they are. Now that dad is out on tour, I am having to fill in …

Most nights I read to my son. Lately he has been reading to me. He gets given a book bag with four books in it each week, plus the books he chooses from the school library and reads them to me or else he reads and page and I read a page, or he reads all the words he can recognise and I do all the hard ones. It's great when he reads to me though.

My daughter is still too young to understand bedtime stories... so i just play with her before bedtime... and that involves a lot of tickling and laughing... and when it is really time to sleep... i tell her to close her eyes... which she will do and then fall asleep... i do not leave her side unless i know that she is already sleeping deeply... then i would go out and do household chores...

I am 48 years old with two grown daughters. I always would read them bedtime stories before they went to bed. It was part of getting ready for bed. I don't know who loved it more. The kids or me. I even wrote afew stories that I put my daughters in the story. And I would read them those stories.
Now I read bedtime stories to my granddaughter. She always asks for them. And she doesn't want me to read just one story. It is always three or four!
I think it is a great way to spend special time with your children. And it helps them with learning words.

In my memory, when I was a child, my parents never told bedtime story.
But I can understand them.
Every day they as farmers would take up many painstaking jobs.
For now I have no babies.
If I have ones, I will tell the bedtime story.
I figure this is a good and important communication between parents and children.
This can raise good sentiment.

I still read bedtime stories to my little one and have been doing it since she was a baby. She loves it and its part of our bedtime routine. She has a bath, wears PJs, milk and then a cuddle while I read to her the book she's chosen. Then goodnite..
I go with her to the library where you can sign up young children too and she has her own library card, we choose about seven books together that we borrow for about a month and rotate everyday.
She cannot read yet but listens intently to the words and can normally recite the books from memory in a week or two. She enjoys it and I keep at it for her; yes, I am sometimes too tired to read but the excitement on her face for story time makes it all worthwhile.
Precious moments I wouldn't give up for any job; i work full time and sometimes work nights so I do this before going in. I am also a single mum and juggle a lot, however we can all make time to build these relationships with our kids regardless of TV or what else while they are still young.

My niece and nephew always get a bedtime story when they're tucked into bed, unless they fall asleep early downstairs and have to be carried up. My niece is three and a half and my nephew just turned two. I had a book made for him for his birthday this year, personalised with his name and picture on every page. You can see it on my flickr page. My niece is very excited because she knows i'll get her one for her birthday too.
