Did you love movies when you were a kid, that now seem stupid?

When I was a kid I loved watching movies. And, two of my favorites were Teen Wolf and Herbie the love bug. I watched the original. Now that I look back on them, both movies look so stupid. I can't believe that I would ever watch such immature movies. Then again, I was immature. Maybe that was the appeal. My kid loves Shrek and we can both agree on that movie. I love the entire series of Shrek Movies. But, I'll bet she hates Shrek by the time she's a teen. Have you ever noticed that some films that you loved as a child, now seem silly? Why do you think that happens? Do we just all lose our imagination? Or, do they simply make better movies, as time goes on? Do your kids love watching the same movies that you loved when you were a kid?

Hi, I am a big movie fan. I like basically all types of movies. However, when I look back at some of the things I liked when I was a kid I kinda wonder what I was thinking! Not even just movies...but TV shows as well. Do you remember Gilligan's Island. It was always my favourite show. I saw it on TV the other day and could not even make it through 10 minutes of it. cheers,

That was my favorite show! How ironic. Small world. Me and my brothers watched that every afternoon. Now, it seems kind of dumb.

ha my husband and I were just talking about this very thing about a week or so ago. We watched one of my all time favorite movies from when I was a teen. It was the labyrinth with David Bowie. I remember it looking so real when I was younger and even up till about 8 years ago I thought it was the greatest movie ever. I even had my daughter hooked on it. It is still her favorite movie and she is a teen. But as we watched it the other day My husband and I looked at each other with that look that said OMG what were we thinking lol. Afterwards we discussed what would the graphics of movies be like in another 20 years? Wondering how much would we be disappointed in movies made today 20 years from now. Movies that now look real will they then look fake? I think we stop loving some movies because the technology gets so much better. I still love labyrinth but it has lost some of the appeal. My kids do love some of the movies I loved as a kid. I think we will always love some of the older movies because if it wasn't for those we wouldn't have the great movies of today.

I hear ya! I loved the Labyrinth when I was a kid and teen. I haven't seen it in years, though. I think you're right about technology. They're able to produce many more realistic effects and let us see things we could once only imagine. It's only going to get better, though. I just hope the plot lines and characterizations do.

Yeah I remember Teen Wolf. It was great them but now it is like werid. Like Footloose I still like that movie but watching it now seems really strange I guess because they way they dressed maybe. Kevin Bacon I thought was the finest even though I was 11 when it came out. I think Shrek movies are really cute. I have watched them with my 5 year old neice. She loves them and her Barbie movies.

I love watching movies. I never had that feeling though. All the movies I love watching when I was a kid, I still love watching 'em now, even more I think. Because as I watch, it brings back the memories of my youth, so it's like running two movies in my mind at the same time LOL! the movie and the picture of me during early days when I was watching it long time ago.

What you said Insung is so true. It does bring back memories when you watch an old movie.
