How do I get the video/audio out from my TV/DVD player to my comp?

It cannot be done through your USB port. The image goes through your video card and the sound through your sound card. However... you need the expensive video and sound cards to provide you with the sockets for those connections. And you also need special software to read it all. You also need a very fast computer to record movies. Like 3.5GHz. It is a lot simpler to buy a DVD recorder to record from your TV, DVD and video. It is easier, faster and no more expensive if you need to go and buy the computer gears to do it.
