Iron Man (Nearly) Invincible At The Box Office |
|
"B-list superhero"?
"Grand Theft Auto IV"?
I say to you: "HA!"
Iron Man had the 10th biggest box office opening weekend, EVER (and that's not even including the Thursday sneak preview showings). It topped $100 million on this past weekend.
It kicked butt on every level. Audiences loved it, Rotten Tomatoes has it 94% positive and the per screen average was over $24,000 (which means you can't attribute the boffo box office to just the fact it was released on a gazillion screens).
In addition it's opening weeked grosses were double that of both Batman Begins and Superman Returns, plus it earned more than Spider-Man 2 and the first two X-Men movies on their opening weekends.
Maybe the next time I tell you a movie is going to be awesome month after month after month prior to its release, you'll pay attention, eh?:-)

1. robsbrooklyngirl (3079) | 2 years ago | I am not surprised. I saw this movie & it was excellent. Robert Downey Jr. was great as the character Tony Stark. In fact if they would have picked any other actor to play the part I don't think it would have been nearly as good. As soon as it comes out on DVD I plan on buying it, yes it was that good LOL.

| 4. cendartree (18) | 2 years ago | SUPEROIR TECHNOLOGY! Sorry, but that was Capcom IM finishing saying. Love the pic for this Rant! Saw it three times this weekend and I live in the Derby city. My wife whom knows nothing about IM loved it and said she can't wait for the sequel. Kahless, as much as I love IM, I believe Speed Racer will hold his own to hold off IM for first next week with 150mil over the next weekend. IM will make 70mil next week.

7. redindian85 (12) | 2 years ago | One thing I havnt heard mentioned about Iron Man is how much of a Patriotic film it is. They were smart to keep the name of the terrorist group obscure and not pin them down to a country.
Man that script was tight!!! And I loved how they used cell phones in the film. Very clever.
