Now some of these will be shocking to you. And some you already know are bad. I got all messed up last year from eating too much Top Ramen. I do not know how I never once thought about all the damage the sodium was causing. Next thing I knew, my feet were swollen and I was scared to death. A lot of you will be surprised when you read about how bad the smoothies are for you. We all know that the kids lunchables are no good for them. There are also a few more surprises. Check them out and tell me which ones are a shock to you? https://www.qualityhealth.com/psp/poll.jspa?poll=1179&rf=28293&mc=ODcxMDg2OA..&emailPID=content

I am not surprised by any of those. Smoothies have always has a high sugar content and anyone who reads what is in them knows not all of them are good (Some are pretty good, but you have to read the menu). All of those foods are processed foods, of course they are going to be horrible for you!

That is what really concerns me about processed foods. We really have little idea what all goes in them. Even if you read the label. One would need to be an expert to understand all of that.

Not surprised at all about the garbage that is out there. Smoothies, in general, are not good for you unless you make them yourself out of plain fruit and yogurt or ice. That way the only way they will be full of sugar is if you add it yourself.

I really don't have many smoothies. I use to make a drink with a banana, milk, and sugar. It was simple, yet very good. I think I will start making them again.

Take a look at the sugar in your milk and in the banana that alone will shock you.

Do you really need the extra sugar thou? I blend my milk and bananas or strawberries and find they are sweet enough w/o added sugar.

I used to love Top Ramen, but I can't tolerate the sodium, the same with things like lunchables. I actually do eat Pop Tarts, but only as a special treat on my diet breaks. I don't really eat anything else on that list. Once in a long while, I will eat a smoothie, but it's usually a sugar free smoothie or one that I make at home without any added sugar. A lot of those things I would eat only on a special occasion.

Oh alright, you are doing very well then. I too love Pop Tarts, but I have not eaten them in years.

I'm glad I don't eat any of those except for smoothies on occasion...I usually make my own. I avoid most processed foods these days. There is so much artificial crap in packaged food. A couple of years ago I started making pretty much everything from scratch. It takes more time but it's a lot healthier and sometimes cheaper.

I completely understand where you are coming from. It make take longer to prepare and in some cases be more costly, but certainly worth it in the long run. I hear you, thanks for responding.

Yes, this is very true! I found this out in time, before it affected me. One thing that a lot of people don't know about Ramen is that it's very high salt. So, if a person were on a low salt diet, then they might not want to eat Ramen. However, by simply getting rid of the flavor packet and using your own all natural spices, like basil or Italian seasoning on the plain cooked Ramen noodle, you have much less salt and can still enjoy the health benefits of Ramen.

None of these are surprising to me. All of them are processed foods, which in general aren't the best thing to be eating. Smoothies can be okay if you make them at home and don't add the extra sugar. Why do those chips need neon orange colors anyway?? I hate that because it stains my fingers.

I believe that they make them the orange hue to make you feel as though you are eating something with real cheese, LOL.

No no surprises there. I have studied a lot about these bad food selections and have tried to stay away from them. Being a diabetic I can't eat any of those anyway but I bet a lot of other people do. Some even think a "smoothie" is healthy when in fact it isn't. Way to much sugar, carbs and sometimes very high in sodium.

I know that being Diabetic significantly limits your diet, but it is good that you live in a time when they have some pretty good tasting Diabetic friendly foods. I know there may be many people who do not realize that a lot of sodium goes into sweets also.

I really love ramen noodles but I always add more water & don't use the entire seasoning packet - I also add veggies like fresh broccoli, cauliflower & carrots to it - kind of like a veggie/noodle soup!

I add them to chicken soups as well and don't use all the seasoning too, especially if I make it for my son.

As long as you do not eat the Ramen noodles at full strength every night like I use to, you should be fine. I like Lunchables too, but they are not very filling for me.
