What does the dog do with the ducks after you shoot them?

After you shoot them, he shows you that you get them, but then what? Does he eat them himself? Does he bring them all back to you like a good dog after the round is over? Or....do you think he nurses the ducks back to health? Maybe the ducks don't really die and he releases them once they can fly again? Are the dog and ducks on the same side? Is this collusion? So many questions...
