Free list of foreclosed homes | | Scam or for real? I have checked too many to count online just to find out at the end of the page, yes you can get this so-called free list for x amount of $.
Has anyone ever found one for free to look up online or from a realtor?
This is not just for a discussion, I really need to know as we are trying really hard to find a home.
I was told once by a ex-realtor these lists are supposed to be free to the public.
We are on limited funds and we need a home.
Let me know what you are doing if you are in the same boat as us?
Thank you, Lish

I just had a book from the library that explained how to find foreclosures and went through the whole process from start to finish. One of the first things it said was that if you are not a homeowner already, you shouldn't be looking at this as an option.
If the home is foreclosed on and has back taxes, you should be able to find that information free from your county tax office. You can also watch the newspaper, because most states require it to be published before they can actually complete the foreclosure.
Also, most foreclosures actually go to auction, and if you want to bid, you have to have a certain amount of earnest money in hand and a pre-approval (at least) from the mortgage company, not just be pre-qualified.
Check your library for a book or talk with a realtor that is familiar with the process in your area.

| | 3. coxjamir (1177) | 1 year ago | I am going through this as well. I am hoping to buy a foreclosed home by January of 2010 (so a little over a year). I am going to spend this next year saving and shopping around. Everyone says that you should contact a realtor, because they get this information free, and they will be able to assist you the best. I feel kind of silly trying to get a realtor when I know I won't be buying a house until at least a year from now, but I will probably get one in a few months just to talk to them and see what my options are, as well as talking to my parents. Super excited!
