The United States at the moment is solely dependent on the Middle East for a source of oil. This, coupled with the war, is driving us into an economic depression that could last for God knows how long. However, an acre of hemp could produce 1000 gallons of methanol, a renewable source of fuel. Corn has been suggested for ethanol but corn causes detrimental effects to soil by draining nutrients needed to grow crops. Cannabis is unique in that it releases elements like nitrogen back into the soil, making it fertile to grow another crop for more fuel. This is one of the many, many uses of the cannabis plant and I believe that the government should give up this futile drug war push against cannabis and see that it is a God-given plant that is here for our benefit.
